History
North Hillsis an area that has seen immense change throughout the years. What started as a humble strip mall in 1960 underwent a major transformation into an enclosed mall by 1967. North Hills was relatively successful until 1972 when the Crabtree Valley Mall opened two miles away – causing North Hills to lose much of its traffic.
The shopping center remained open despite this until 1999 when developer Kane Realty Corporation purchased it and took on the difficult task of reconstruction. Two years later, in 2001, North Hills Plaza was transformed into The Lassiter at North Hills, and thus began a new era for this beloved Raleigh area. Today, visitors from near and far still come to explore all it has to offer.
