The public is invited to use the library, which also serves as a resource to learn more about Graham’s life and contributions to the world.
History
At first, Graham was against the idea of putting up a library to be named after him. He wanted to focus on the message of the actual gospel. But, after being convinced that the library was a “crusade” that would last for future generations, he eventually agreed with the idea.
The plans for the library were conceived at the headquarters of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in April 2005. Plus, the groundbreaking ceremony happened in August of the same year. In May 2007, the library was officially opened, and Billy Graham and former US presidents Bush, Clinton, and Carter were in attendance.
Exhibits in the library highlight significant periods of graham’s life and ministry, such as his role as a spiritual advisor to US presidents, his mission trips worldwide, and his early years on the farm. The collection also includes artifacts, videos, and photographs that offer a glimpse into Graham’s private life, including his residence and family.
In addition, Graham’s wife, Ruth Graham, loved reading, and her devotion to God and religion were closely related. She inspired her family with books filled with wells of faith and inspiration. The bookstore has inspiring sermons on worship music CDs, DVDs, and personalized library apparel.
Billy Graham’s library has since drawn visitors to Charlotte, making the city popular. Local businesses have also experienced rapid growth due to tourists visiting this area.
